Adaptation is how everyone used to believe but life changed and although I am certain this can be traced back even further I haven’t been able to do so.
Empedocles was a Greek philosopher who believed that things naturally survived by adaptation he lived 490 430 BC he didn’t believe in the survival of the fittest. He believed that there was no purpose to adaptation but he also believed in reincarnation.
Aristotle whom the Muslims acknowledged as the first teacher although but for some reason they deny this today.
Aristotle believed in 1 Earth a Solid , 2 Water a liquid , 3 Air a Gas , 4 fire was heat, 5 Aether or Essence which today we call Dark Matter.
Life he believed adapted to these with purpose and can be said to be the founder of a train of thought that influenced every religion and most of science. Even today we are still arguing is their purpose or is everything just natural.
Al- Jahiz 781 – 868 wrote
“Animals engage in a struggle for existence; for resources, to avoid being eaten and to breed. Environmental factors influence organisms to develop new characteristics to ensure survival, thus transforming into new species. Animals that survive to breed can pass on their successful characteristics to offspring.” Environmental Factors is a good name for Adaptation.
All this Islamic view on Evolution was the main influence on future western thinking but few acknowledged this and still deny it today.
William Paley put forward the argument about a blind watchmaker creating everything and put this forward as proof for the existence of God.
His ideas also influenced the thinking of many of today’s thinkers and were refuted by people like Charles Darwin and Richard Dawkins who believe that Natural Selection proved that there is no order and everything just occurs naturally. This is often thought of has a theory of chance although Richard Dawkins as rejected the theory of chance. Most of the world now chose to believe in the survival of the fittest and many turned to atheism. This world we have today is a product of the survival of the fittest.
Baxter’s return to adaptation is to show how it is impossible for chance or anything else to have created the individuality as displayed by our DNA. Plus many other factors in the creation of the universe require intelligence far greater than all the computers and scientists who ever lived. Either the Darwinians and Dawkins accept natural intelligence or they go on destroying the world with their survival of the fittest that I have described as the Greedhouse effect.
They are to blame for this world time to get back to adaptation and to God.
